Why come to choir?

Well, simply put- it's good for you wholly.  It affects your heart, spine, lungs, sinuses, it's definitely good for your headspace, and it allows you to communicate in a different way.  You learn new ways to work, communicate, new languages and experiment with sound. You also stand with others to project feeling- empathy and sympathy, power and confidence- all in one place at one time.  Get in touch with us, or our singers and find out why you should come and sing with us!

Changing how we work with young people!

Sure we've done some pretty cool gigs this year- but more importantly is that we are now holding youth choir rehearsals for singers aged between 11 and 18 at Zebon Copse Centre on Thursdays from 5.15pm-6.15pm during term time. We are focussing on developing musical singers, and ensuring that their voices, breathing, response to music and their ability to work with score is properly coached. We still have a kids choir of course- get in touch for more details!

What a brilliant group of singers!

As well as supporting Phylis Tuckwell at their memory meadow celebration, so far this year we have also sung at a wedding at The Elvetham Hotel and frankly we were rather good! Or at least the singers and Pete were- I struggled in a suit.  We are now looking forward to a great summer of singing. How's this- Singing + Us = Joy!

We are actually here!

Sorry that I haven't been around.  Check out our Facebook page for a huge list of events that we have sung at.  This Christmas we raised about £3000 for charity, sung in lots of amazing places, sang at a wedding, sang in a mansion, sang in a memorial service, in a very Christmassy pub.  Oh yeah.  And now we've been asked to be a featured MainStage choir at the Roundhouse in July thanks to Voices Now.  And we are singing with the Opera Boys in February.  And we are singing for Phylis Tuckwell in April.  And there's a martial arts competition in February as well...

You know how we said we were busy....

Well it got out of control when Chris Evans (Radio 2, Top Gear and most of our informative TV experiences) invited us to sing at two of his open mic nights at the Mulberry, his pub, in Chiddingfold.  The choir were amazing and held their own amongst acts like These Echoes, Emma Stevens, Frank Hamilton and Seasick Steve!!!

We're performing at the Camden Roundhouse!

So on May 9th, we are singing at the Camden market and at the world renowned Roundhouse as a part of the Voices Now festival of a cappella singing.  You don't need tickets to listen to us- we are on at the market at 2.30pm and at the Roundhouse at 4.30pm.  I am mega proud of the choirs and I think this is a massive step up in their singing experiences.  One they have earned.  Look at the link!

Fleet Carnival- wow!

What a difference a year makes! I like being a choir where people that have been to 3 rehearsals can contribute. Where anyone with physical or any other challenge feels welcome. Where we support each other and our community and charity. Where everyone can stand proud and say 'I did that and it was fun!'

Singing for Marie Curie and Fleet

On Saturday Shuffletunes sang for the people of Fleet to raise money for Marie Curie. Just over an hour brought in £220 for a charity we support very keenly. Thanks Fleet for all the positive comments and all the smiles, tears and listens. And of course your generosity. We loved it and cannot wait to sing for you guys again!

So the first youth choir at Zebon Copse on Thursday at 5.15pm went really well! The kids had amazing voices and seemed to have a lot of fun. And they made great progress as well! Split parts and some brilliant rhythm work in under an hour! Plus some technique, some voice coaching and some choir direction- it all worked out brilliantly!
